Connect an agent

Agents reach Drop over MCP. They sign in through your browser once; there are no keys to paste. The Drop skill comes with the server.

Add the server

Drop's MCP server is at https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp. Add it to your client:

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user drop https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code and pick drop to sign in.

Codex

codex mcp add drop --url https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp
codex mcp login drop

The login opens Drop in your browser.

Cursor

// ~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "drop": { "url": "https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp" }
  }
}

Cursor shows “Needs login” next to drop. Click it to sign in.

VS Code

// .vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "drop": { "type": "http", "url": "https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp" }
  }
}

VS Code asks to sign in the first time it starts the server.

Any client

npx add-mcp https://drop-vps.vitehub.dev/mcp

Your client opens Drop in the browser the first time it connects.

Signed in, the Agents page lists the clients you've connected, and disconnecting one revokes its access.

How sign-in works

Drop is an OAuth 2.1 authorization server for its own MCP endpoint. When a client first connects:

  1. /mcp answers 401 and points the client at /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp, which names Drop as the authorization server.
  2. The client registers itself (dynamic client registration) and opens Drop's consent page in your browser, with PKCE.
  3. You sign in with GitHub if you haven't, and allow the client.
  4. The client keeps a token that only works for this Drop's /mcp, and the agent acts as you. Drops it makes show the client's name, like "Claude Code".

Clients that discover the issuer directly find it at /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server/api/auth.

The skill

The vitehub-drop skill tells agents how to drop docs, publish apps, read feedback, and write documents people can review. It comes with the server through the MCP Skills extension (skills/list and skill:// resources), so connected clients that support skills load it on their own.

Agents that discover skills over HTTP find it at /.well-known/agent-skills/index.json, which follows Agent Skills Discovery v0.2.0, and at the older /.well-known/skills/. Fetching Drop's home page with Accept: text/markdown returns the skill too.

Tools and prompts

What the server offers, read from the server itself:

NameWhat it does
list_dropsList your drops (docs and apps), newest first, with id, kind, visibility, and link.
read_dropRead a doc's Markdown, or every file of an app.
list_commentsOpen review comments on a drop: the quoted text, the comment, and who wrote it. Address them in the next version.
create_docDrop a doc: Markdown (default) or a self-contained HTML page. Private unless shared is true. Pass supersedes to publish it as the next version of an existing doc.
publish_appPublish a static app as files keyed by path (index.html required). Pass id to publish the next version of an existing app.
create_code_imageRender source code as an SVG image (this Drop can't render PNG) with syntax highlighting. Returns a public URL that expires after five minutes: download it, or drop it to keep it.
skill://vitehub-drop/SKILL.mdDrops plans, docs, and small static apps into Drop for review, reads the comments people leave, and publishes the next version. Also turns source code into temporary images. Use when the user asks to share a plan or document for review, publish a small app, read review feedback, or create a code image.
skill://vitehub-drop/references/documents.mdvitehub-drop: references/documents.md
address_feedbackRead the open comments on a drop and publish the next version that addresses them.

Every call runs as the person who allowed the client, with their role. New drops start private.

Code images

create_code_image highlights code with Shiki and returns a framed image at a public URL that expires after five minutes. SVG works on every Drop. PNG is a Browser Run screenshot of the SVG, so only Drops on Cloudflare have it, drop.vitehub.dev included. There it's the default. On other hosts the tool renders SVG and says so in its description.

Protocol

Streamable HTTP at /mcp. Drop speaks MCP 2026-07-28 and answers clients on 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26. The server is nitro-mcp-toolkit, with one file per tool and prompt in server/mcp/.
